Frightening mutation turns up in water taps. Are we safe & what of future mutations???

One more reason not to drink the water: Superbugs could be turning the pipes into a disease superhighway.

A frightening genetic mutation that can transform ordinary bacteria into the world’s most powerful superbugs has been found in the water in New Delhi – including water used for cooking, drinking and washing.

Don’t dismiss this as some remote threat in a faraway city – because these bugs could hit you and your family, and sooner than you think.

I’ll tell you how in a moment.

But first, the shocking news from India: Researchers took samples from 171 communal wastewater sources and 50 drinking water sources in New Delhi.

They found the mutation, called NDM-1, in bacteria in two of the drinking water samples and 51 wastewater samples, according to the study in The Lancet Infectious Diseases.

Bugs that acquire the NDM-1 mutation are resistant to just about every drug – including the powerful “last resort” antibiotics used for the strongest bacterial infections.

And as I told you last year, NDM-1 isn’t confined to New Delhi anymore.

Already, thousands of cases have been reported around the world – including some in the United States. (Read more here.)

Think they can’t turn up in your water because of the chlorine pumped through the pipes? Think again: Already, some superbugs have shown resistance to chlorine – and it wouldn’t surprise me if bacteria with the NDM-1 mutation learned to do the same.

In the end, all the chlorine will do is slowly poison you… and let the bugs live.

Don’t wait for the news to get worse – whether it’s NDM-1 or some other strain, it’s only a matter of time before superbugs break free and really run wild… and if they manage to travel through the water supply, it’s game over.

Protect yourself and your family now with a reverse-osmosis water filter.

Not only will reverse osmosis keep the bacteria out, it’ll also rid your water of the chlorine, too – not to mention the fluoride, herbicides, pesticides, hormones, drugs (legal and illegal), rocket fuel and everything else that’s oozing out of your tap.

Just be sure you install your filter where the water enters your home, so every faucet is protected.
